Surfing refers to riding down a wave (on board) for the speed of downward movement. Of these technological breakthroughs in the surf wetsuit, there have been three main areas or possibilities that have emerged, including the solar panel heating, gel based heating and battery powered heating panels. The solar panel version works by drawing power from the sun and heating the strategically elements within the suit, whilst the gel based option works on a chemical reaction within the gel packs, thereby heating the wetsuit and therefore the wearer. In contrast to the above the battery powered heating mechanism works on exactly that battery power, either rechargeable or replaceable type batteries, similar to that of a cell phone battery. With mention being made of the battery powered wetsuit, some people raised their concern over the possible attraction of sharks due to the frequencies emitted by batteries, this aspect has been tested in a variety of conditions and has been proven that this is not the case. Others have also stressed concern regarding the chemically element within the gel heating based suit, once again the development of this option has been conducted on strict safety standards, with the well being of the wearer thereof being held as the priority of the project.
